The Ashaiman District Court has slapped #FixTheCountry convener, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, with another two weeks remand into police custody.

He made his second appearance before the court on Monday morning after being in police custody for two weeks after he was arrested on February 11, for his ‘coup plot’ comments on Facebook.

Reports indicate that the court, presided over by Eleanor Barnes Botwe, ordered Mr. Barker-Vormawor out during proceedings.

He was escorted out of the court room after he engaged in heated exchanges with the magistrate.

He will return to court on March 15, 2021.

The #FixTheCountry convener’s lawyer, Justice Srem Sai, questioned the District Court’s authority to handle matters regarding their client’s personal liberty.

But the State Prosecutor ASP Sylvester Asare responded that the case was at the right forum since the charge of treason felony levelled against him is an indictable offence.

Angel News Ama Brako Ampofo earlier reported that there was heavy security at the court to foil any ‘disturbances’ at the court premises.

Meanwhile dozens of members of #FixTheCountry Movement massed up at the Ashaiman District Court in support of their convener who is facing treason felony charges.

#FixTheCountry Members demanding Oliver’s release
They were demanding for their leader to be freed as they clad themselves in red attire wielding placards with inscriptions such as “WeAreAllOliver”, “We won’t be silenced”, “The System only works for those who are rich and notorious” among others.
