The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has signed a landmark agreement with the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA) to conduct geological investigations in Funsi, Atuna, and Bensere East areas, marking a significant step towards promoting responsible and data-driven mining in Ghana.

The project, aimed at generating credible geological data, will support the establishment of model mines in the country.

The GGSA will provide geological investigation services over a four-month period at a cost of GHS27.5 million.

This initiative is part of GoldBod’s efforts to promote sustainability while maximizing national gold output for the benefit of Ghanaians.

The three areas selected for the investigation are among 20 mineralized zones released to GoldBod by the Minerals Commission of Ghana.

The project is expected to provide reliable geological data to guide mining investments, improve transparency in mineral resource management, and support the development of responsible small-scale mining operations.
