The leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has rejected claims that former Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo was shot during an incident at its Kwabenya property on Sunday, June 21, 2026, describing the reports as “false and misleading.”
In a statement issued on Sunday, June 21, 2026, and signed by Church Leadership, the Mission said Adwoa Safo “forcefully drove her vehicle into the entrance gates of the property” after a lawful church event, striking two metallic gates and causing “substantial damage” to both.
The statement said numerous worshippers and invited guests were present at the time, including people seated near the entrance, and that her actions “created a serious risk to life and property.”
“Had the gates completely collapsed or had the vehicle proceeded beyond the entrance, the safety of attendees could have been gravely endangered,” the release stated.
According to the church, security personnel on duty intervened “to prevent further escalation and to protect persons gathered at the event,” adding that their actions were “directed solely toward preserving public safety and preventing injury to attendees.”
The church also addressed unverified media reports that Adwoa Safo was shot by her brother during the incident, calling it “an apparent attempt to create a false impression of having sustained a gunshot injury.”
“We categorically reject these allegations as false and misleading. To the best of our knowledge and based on information presently available to us, no such shooting occurred,” the statement said.
The leadership called on relevant authorities to conduct a “thorough and impartial investigation into all aspects of the incident” and urged the public to avoid conclusions based on unverified social media reports.
“Our organization remains committed to peace, truth, the rule of law, and the safety of all persons who attend our events,” it added.
