Strength comes in many forms. Some people believe in physical strength, their muscles, skills, and abilities. Others rely on inner and mental strength: the ability to put difficult circumstances behind them and remain focused on the goals ahead.
Thomas Partey proved this and, in effect, told the world: “If this was meant to break me, I am an eagle that flies above the storm.”
Life happens to all of us at different stages. Sometimes we ask, “Why me?” Someone once answered that question for me with another: “Why not you?”
We are all built differently. What may break one person may strengthen another. That is why suicide and quitting have never been the solution. The solution lies in gathering the broken pieces, putting them together, and making the best out of every situation life presents.
Waking up to hear your name discussed on radio stations and social media platforms is no easy experience. For some, it can feel like torture. For others, it becomes the foundation upon which mental resilience and strength are built.
I was not surprised when the nominated Man of the Match, Jude Bellingham, openly stated that he did not deserve the award and that it should have gone to someone on the Ghanaian side. Life has a way of surprising us. If you do not give up, you may live long enough to see those who once refused to shake your hand beckoning for a hug. Those who sought to embarrass you may one day ask for a photograph or invite you for coffee.
That is one reason never to quit.
Human beings were created to survive and overcome. No two lives were designed to be exactly the same not even those of twins. We all have our crosses to carry. Never assume you can carry mine, because I cannot carry yours.
Never judge another person’s journey by your own standards. The standard you proudly hold today may reveal its flaws when tested.
To anyone going through a difficult season and feeling like giving up, I am here to remind you that stories of triumph are never written about those who quit. From being sold into slavery by his brothers to becoming a prime minister, Joseph’s journey did not happen in weeks; it took years.
So do not give up.
Be strong. Keep believing. Keep hope alive.
There are better days ahead.
