The Ghana Association of Bankers are set to meet over the recent spate of attacks on bullion vans in the country.
The latest incident was the attack on a bullion van which was carting money to an unknown bank which upon reaching the Korle-Bu–Adedenkpo road was accosted by six robbers.
A Policeman who was proving security for the vehicle and an eye witness were shot dead in the attack.
The latest development has forced the Ghana Association of Bankers to summon an emergency meeting to discuss the issue of the carting of cash from companies to banks and from one bank to another.
Angelonline.com.gh has also gathered that the Inspector General of Police, James Oppong Boanuh, has already directed all banks and financial institutions to provide fortified armored vehicles for carting of currencies by end of this month.
