The Central Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service, Ms Rebecca Quainoo has warned heads of private and government Senior High Schools (SHS) in the area to allow final year students who owe any fees write the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
According to the PRO, non-payment of fees and other levies should not be grounds to prevent students from sitting for the exams.
Mrs Quainoo added that the examination holds the future of the students thus preventing candidates from writing the examination could jeopardise their future.
She again stated that measures have been instituted to ensure that students pay their arrears or be restricted from accessing their certificates afterwards on failure to clear themselves, hence the heads should permit the students write their papers.
While assuring of effective examination for the 2021 batch as all materials and logistics are ready, Ms Quainoo advised invigilators to refrain from engaging candidates in examination malpractices to avoid any wrath of West Africa Examination Council (WAEC).
The PRO however indicated that 42,089 candidates are sitting for this year’s Wassce in the central region with 21,306 and 20,785 being males and females respectively.
