RTP Awards: Blakk Rasta returns all plaques to organizers and dissociates himself from scheme
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Ghanaian reggae musician, Blakk Rasta, has respectively warned organizers of the Radio and Television (RTP) Awards to desist from including him in their future award schemes.

According to the radio presenter, award schemes based on voting are indirectly a means of selling the ward to the highest bidder.

This comes on the back of yet another nomination he received from the organisers of the Radio and TV Personality (RTP) Awards, Big Events Ghana, but unfortunately lost out at the event held recently in Accra.

Therefore, he is asking organizers of the award schemes and all other local and international bodies to exclude him from such events if voting will be based on monetary terms rather merit.

A statement from the 3FM presenter and dated December 15, 2022, said he is “not proud” of the development.

He also announced his resolve to return all the awards plaques he has won so far for his excellence in the media space.

Blakk Rasta added that he was going to have his “name expunged” from their “record.”

“Much as I appreciate your efforts in appreciating people, this fall short of merit and decency, I ask respectfully that you desist from nominating me in the future unless this unfortunate criterion changes to true merit awards standard,” the former Hitz FM and Class FM worker stated.

However he indicated he had no evil intentions against the RTP Awards and would not destroy what he had built.

Blakk Rasta was voted the ‘Radio Reggae Show Host of the Year’ in June 2011 by the Ghana Radio And TV Awards. He has won other awards including the BASS Awards in 2013, with a reggae song with Jah Amber titled “Our Africa”.
