Residents of Gomoa Dominase, a community in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, have expressed concerns over the poor telecommunication networks in the area.

According to them, they have a challenge accessing major telecommunication networks such as MTN, Vodafone Ghana, AirtelTigo and other networks as the community lacks telecommunication masts.

They said the situation has hindered effective communication in the area which in turn is affecting their social and economic lives especially, during emergencies.

The residents made this known in an interview with Angel News reporter, Opanyin Darko noting that the network mast planted at the community is unable to serve their telecommunication needs.

A female trader and resident of the area said, “indeed we are really suffering from the lack of quality network because as a market woman if you try calling a customer the feedback you get is switch off even if you are standing beside the person. For AirtelTigo, is not available here, Vodafone too we find it difficult before accessing it but the worst among them is MTN.”

“For the network, it’s not good at all, whenever an accident occurs because of the poor network when you attempt reaching the ambulance service it does not go through so before an ambulance gets to the scene, the person might have already died” another female resident added.

A market woman who also shared her frustration indicated that whenever they need financial assistance away from their trading places, it becomes impossible to get help since there is no availability of network to perform any money transaction.

The Chief of Gomoa Dominase, Nana Okogyedom Sarfo Kantanka Attah IX opined that the poor service  in the community is not encouraging.

He confirmed that teaching and learning has vastly been affected because students and teachers have to trek long distance to access stable internet service.

The Assembly Member for Dominase Electoral Area, Bennie Mussloni Akwasi, on his part noted that, inaccessibility of telecommunication network is hugely affecting business.

He is of the view the people of Gomoa Dominase will continue to lag behind if successive governments fail to provide them with such basic social amenities especially in the current global setting.

The residents are therefore appealing to the government and telecommunication companies to come to their aid by hooking them onto the telecommunication grid.
