The government through the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations has scheduled Tuesday, July 12, 2022, to begin negotiations with the Organized Labour over their demands of 20% Cost of Living Allowance.

The decision comes on the back of an emergency meeting held on Friday 8, July 2022 to expand discussions on the call for COLA to a wider scope.

The meeting included government, represented by the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, Finance Ministry, Education Ministry, the Organized Labour, and the National Security.

In a statement issued at the end of the meeting, the Ministry expressed the government’s commitment to engaging Organised Labour to find a lasting solution to the matter.

The government used the opportunity and appealed to the Teacher Unions to call off their ongoing industrial actions looking forward to a resolution.
