The Member of Parliament(MP) for North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has called on the youth of Suame in the Ashanti Region, to be patient with their legislator who is also the Majority Leader, Osei kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.

On Monday, July 19, 2022, it took the intervention of police in Ashanti Region to save the Majority Leader from being attacked by residents of the Suame Constituency when they threw sachet water at him.

Their grievances follow their displeasure with regard to the delay in developmental projects in the area especially the slow pace of the construction of the Suame-Maakro road.

However, the North Tongu MP, in a social media post, has urged the people of Suame to exercise patience with their parliamentary representative.

“The good people of Suame should simply open their eyes properly and see President Akufo-Addo’s 10,885 kilometres of new roads.”

He added: “We beg of them to take it easy on our respected Majority Leader, Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.”

It is recalled that police in the Ashanti Region on Monday, July 18, 2022 rescued the Member of Parliament for Suame, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, from a ‘mob’ attack over delays in the construction of the Suame-Maakro road.

Some angry residents within the Suame-Magazine business enclave pelted their MP with sachets of water and other items while hooting at him.

The attack on the legislator, who doubles as the Majority Leader of Parliament, came when the MP attempted to address residents in the area after work on the Suame-Maakro road resumed.

Prior to the Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu’s visit, residents in the area demonstrated last week over delays in the reconstruction of the main highway from Suame Roundabout through Maakro to Afrancho while calling on authorities to ensure work resumes.

But the legislator, together with his entourage including the Municipal Chief Executive for Suame, Maxwell Ofosu Boakye upon arrival were met by hostile artisans and had to be saved by the police.
