President John Dramani Mahama has directed all Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of state institutions to declare their assets without delay.

Emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability, he urged them to comply with asset declaration laws as part of efforts to promote good governance and curb corruption.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of deputy ministers at the presidency on 12th March, 2025, President Mahama stated that the requirement to declare assets also applies to all those appointed as CEOs, deputy CEOs, and heads of government departments and agencies.

President Mahama noted that some officials believe they are exempt from the declaration, but he emphasized that the amended law includes all of them. Therefore, those who were eager to secure positions are also covered by the asset declaration rule.

He called on them to declare their assets as quickly as possible, adding that he has instructed the Chief of Staff to formally notify all appointees to submit their asset declarations promptly to the Auditor-General’s office.

Meanwhile, he has also cautioned the newly sworn-in deputy ministers to ensure they declare their assets and submit the required documents to the Auditor-General.

He further stated that any official travel outside Ghana must pass the essential travel test and receive approval from the Office of the Chief of Staff.
