President John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaians to support security agencies with useful information to help prevent terrorist attacks.
He stressed that working together allows security forces to stay ahead of threats.
Speaking at the Regular Career Course 63–2025 graduation ceremony at the Military Academy, he urged citizens to take this responsibility seriously and avoid raising false alarms for partisan or personal interests, as it could distract security agencies from their critical duties.
He emphasized that citizen involvement is crucial, as local insights help authorities identify threats and develop effective strategies.
He urged everyone to see security as a shared responsibility and provide intelligence that enhances, rather than hinders, security efforts.
On military leadership, President Mahama assured that promotions in the Ghana Armed Forces will be based on merit, not connections.
He also announced plans to expand opportunities for non-commissioned officers (NCOs) to access officer cadet training, ensuring fair career growth for all soldiers.
He reaffirmed his commitment to professionalism and transparency in the military.
