The Member of Parliament for Okere, Hon. Daniel Nana-Addo Kenneth, has announced that the Okere District Hospital has officially been cleared to accept patients under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). This development is expected to significantly boost access to quality healthcare for residents across the district.
Hon. Nana-Addo Kenneth made the announcement during a visit to the facility to assess its operations since opening. He revealed that the hospital currently has 25 nurses and a full complement of staff, including a medical superintendent, administrator, and professionals in accounts, pharmacy, and laboratory services.
“I visited the Okere District Hospital to see how they are faring since they started operation,” he said. “I’m pleased to announce that the Hospital now has received approval to accept patients with Ghana Health Insurance. I made a cash donation to support them in their early operations.”
The Okere District Hospital is a modern 40-bed facility that was officially handed over to the Ghana Health Service in April 2025. It houses essential departments such as OPD, surgical and theatre units, antenatal care, public health, and wards for men, women, and children. The hospital is part of a broader national effort to expand healthcare access in underserved areas.
The MP encouraged citizens to make full use of the new facility and pledged his continued support for its growth. He also expressed deep appreciation to former President H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and former MP Hon. Daniel Botwe for their role in securing the hospital project for the people of Okere.
“This hospital is a lasting legacy of quality healthcare access in our district,” he said.
