The University of Ghana has clarified that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, has not been officially awarded a degree by the institution.
In a letter addressed to the Civil Service Council and signed by the Registrar, Mrs. Emelia Agyei-Mensah, the university confirmed that while Mr. Basintale was admitted to the university in 2014, he did not fulfil the academic requirements necessary for graduation.
“The copy of the degree certificate submitted and attached to your letter was not issued by the University of Ghana and does not conform to the official format and security features of certificates awarded by this institution,” the letter dater May, 25, 2025, stated.
It further explained that although the student identification number cited in the verification request matches Mr. Basintale’s records, he has not been officially awarded a degree.
The University emphasized the importance of its clarification and assured the Civil Service Council of its continued cooperation in due diligence processes.
“We hope this clarification is helpful for your due diligence processes,” the statement added.
