The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed that the number of Mpox cases in the country has risen to 79, following the detection of 34 new infections.
The latest figures represent a notable increase in the spread of the virus across affected communities.
In an update published on the GHS, however, it clarified that no deaths have been recorded in connection with the current outbreak.
The GHS emphasized that the situation remains under control and assured the public that appropriate measures are being implemented to curb further transmission.
According to the GHS, the recent rise in cases is largely due to enhanced surveillance efforts, including stronger contact tracing and increased public awareness.
These improvements, according to the GHS have enabled health workers to detect and isolate cases more quickly and effectively.
The GHS has urged the public to remain vigilant and to adhere to preventive measures. These include avoiding close contact with individuals who exhibit symptoms or have rashes, maintaining proper personal hygiene, and visiting a health facility immediately if any symptoms develop.
The service concluded its statement with a call for collective action, saying, “Let’s keep up the momentum.”
Ghanaians are thus encouraged to stay informed and cooperative, stressing that together the country can stop the spread of the virus.
