Feedico has launched a comprehensive roadmap to train young poultry and livestock farmers across Ghana’s 16 regions, on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at the Animal Research Institute
The initiative aims to enhance youth earn income and livelihoods while supporting the national economy, food, and nutrition security.
Feedico’s Executive Director, Dr. Chief Nathaniel Ebo Nsarko, highlighted the vital role youth play in the poultry and livestock value chain. He emphasized the need to address challenges hindering their productivity and economic potential.
Also, in collaboration with the Animal Research Institute, he stated
“The Animal Research Institute of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has the capacity to provide technical knowledge and training to livestock farmers. The Institute develops and transfers technologies that promote livestock and poultry production in Ghana, offering research, advisory services, and training in poultry and livestock production,” he noted
Highlighting the need for increased local production, he mentioned that Ghana imported 81, 349 MT of meat in 2023, prompting the Government’s ‘Feed Ghana Programme’ to boost local production of crops like maize, rice, and soybean for animal feed.

He further encouraged individuals to leverage the Animal Research Institute’s capacity to establish profitable poultry and livestock farms.
He also said this initiative promotes youth involvement in agriculture, food security, and economic growth.
