The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has announced the suspension of its nationwide strike over delays in implementing their Collective Agreement signed in May 2024.

The Association made this known in a press release dated Friday, June 13, 2025, following a fruitful engagement with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health on Thursday, June 12.

Citing public appeals and the intervention of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health, the GRNMA confirmed that their discussions held with the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health were productive and led to a temporary resolution.

As a result, the Association has suspended the strike action immediately pending its further talks and instructed to resume their normal shift duties from Saturday, June 14, 2025.

“In view of point 1 above, the GRNMA ‘s industrial action initiated on 2nd June 2025 is hereby suspended pending the outcome of the follow-up meeting scheduled for 26th
June, 2025.

“We call on our dear nurses and midwives to resume their normal shift duties from
SATURDAY, 14th June, 2025,” the statement announced.

The leadership assured its members that efforts would not relent until the full implementation of the Collective Agreement is secured.

GRNMA extended its gratitude to Parliament’s Health Committee, the nursing and midwifery fraternity, and the media for their support.
