President John Dramani Mahama has restated his commitment to making tertiary education accessible for all Ghanaians through the government’s ‘No Fees Stress’ policy.

Speaking at the official launch of the ‘No Fees Stress’ policy in Koforidua on Friday, July 4, President Mahama explained that the policy aims to break down barriers that keep brilliant students out of universities because of financial hardship or social circumstances.

“This policy is not about welfare, but it is about fairness. It is about restoring dignity to Ghanaian students. It is about affirming that the right to education is not a privilege for only the wealthy, but is a shared national inheritance. Education is the great equalizer; it bridges the gap between where a child is born and what the child can become”

He noted that the ‘No Fees Stress’ policy is part of broader efforts to build an inclusive society where every Ghanaian has the chance to achieve their potential.

Mr. Mahama stressed that when barriers to education are removed, the nation benefits from the talents and contributions of all its citizens, regardless of where they come from or the circumstances of their birth.

This policy ensures that geographical location, gender, disability, or socio-economic background will no longer determine who can sit in a university lecture hall,” President Mahama said.

The ‘No Fees Stress’ initiative seeks to eliminate upfront fees that often prevent talented but financially challenged students from pursuing higher education.

President Mahama emphasized that education should remain a right for all Ghanaians, not a privilege reserved for the wealthy few.
