Residents of Berekuso and surrounding communities are calling on the Ministry of Roads and Highways and First Sky Construction Ltd., to urgently address the deplorable condition of the Berekuso road, a vital stretch.

Despite the awarding of the project to First Sky Construction under a Kuwait-funded initiative, work on the Berekuso road has stalled or progressed at an slow pace, leaving the road in a dangerously deteriorated state.

The situation poses significant risks to commuters and hinders access to schools, hospitals, markets, and key institutions like Ashesi University.

“For far too long, we’ve endured dust, deep potholes, flooding, and breakdowns,” said a local resident. “We were hopeful when the project was announced, but now we’re demanding answers and action,” a resident told Angelonline.com.gh

The Berekuso road is a strategic link between Achimota and Aburi, and neighboring towns in the Eastern Region. It plays a central role in supporting local agriculture, education, healthcare, and commerce.

However, ongoing neglect and construction delays have led to worsening conditions, increased accidents, and a decline in overall quality of life. Community leaders and concerned citizens are calling for the following:

1. An update from First Sky Construction and the Ministry of Roads on the status of the project.

2. Acceleration of construction efforts and visible mobilization of resources on-site.

3. Proper drainage systems and quality materials to ensure the road’s long-term durability.

4. Accountability and transparency regarding timelines, funding use, and project deliverables.
