The Ashanti Regional Co-ordinating Council has announced a series of stringent security measures following the fatal shooting of Alhaji Abdul-Malik Azenbge, Chief of Kusaase, which occurred at Asewase on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

In a release dated July 25, 2025, the Council disclosed that the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) convened an emergency meeting on Wednesday, July 24, to assess the situation and determine immediate action.

REGSEC resolved the following measures to be enforced immediately:

“No motorbikes shall be permitted on the roads after 7:00pm until further notice. The use of unlicensed motorbikes or motorbikes without lights is strictly prohibited.

“The ongoing inter-tribal football competition is to be suspended with immediate effect until further notice.

“No motorbike rider is permitted to wear a smock until further notice, as it has become an avenue for suspects to conceal weapons,” the release said.

Additionally, REGSEC indicated that there will be increased security presence in hotspot areas, involving both the Police and Military, to ensure peace and protect lives and property.
