The Assembly Member for Wassa Simpa Boyayaa Electoral Area, Philip Cudjoe, has issued a strong warning to all newly graduated Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) pupils to refrain from engaging in inappropriate behaviour on social media.
Mr. Cudjoe expressed deep concern over the growing trend of young girls appearing on social media platforms such as TikTok and Facebook to insult elders or expose their bodies.
He emphasised that this behaviour is unacceptable and must be addressed.
His remarks were made during a ceremony jointly organised by the Boyayaa and Asikafo Ambantem Electoral Areas within the Wassa Simpa community, which honoured this year’s BECE graduates who achieved aggregates between 6 and 15.
A total of 50 graduates were recognised for their hard work and received a trunk, a mattress, and a cash prize to support their next stage of education.
“What happened today, we’ve really invested a huge amount of money all because we want our children to get a good foundation to help build their future.
“And we don’t want anyone from Wassa, Tarkwa Nsuaem or Simpa to be on social media to do unpleasant things.
“Most times, you’ll see someone in Secondary School doing things that are not good, specifically the ladies, so we’re pleading that we should monitor our children’s footsteps.
“Any child that we see on social media behaving inappropriately should be punished,” he warned.
