Vice President pays visit to victims of the El-Wak stampede

The Vice President, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has visited victims of the El-Wak stampede who are receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra.

The tragic El-Wak stampede on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, claimed the lives of six young recruits who had lined up at El-Wak Stadium for the body selection phase of the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise.

According to her Facebook post on Saturday, November 15, 2025, she visited victims of the stampede receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital and assured them of her support.

“I visited the victims of the stampede who are receiving treatment at the 37 Military Hospital.

“I was accompanied by the Deputy Minister for Defence, Hon. Brogya Genfi, and the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong,” she said.

She continued: “We spent time with each patient, offering words of encouragement and assuring them of our support as they recover,” Her Excellency stated.

The Vice President further commended the doctors, nurses, and medical staff for their swift response and dedicated care, acknowledging that their commitment has been vital in stabilising the situation during this difficult time.

“We continue to keep all affected individuals and their families in our thoughts and prayers,” she emphasised.
