The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) and the Mali Shippers’ Council (CMC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance trade facilitation, logistics coordination, and capacity building between the two countries.

The agreement was signed in Bamako, Mali, on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.

Chief Executive Officer of the GSA, Prof. Ransford E. V. Gyampo highlighted the partnership’s potential to promote efficient shipping and logistics services, benefiting shippers in both countries.

“This event marks not only the continuation of a relationship but also the deepening of a strategic partnership that has been nurtured over the years between our two organisations.

“Our collaboration is anchored on a shared vision: to promote efficient, competitive, and mutually beneficial shipping and logistics services for the benefit of shippers in both Ghana and Mali,” he said.

He noted that the MoU covers areas such as mutual assistance, data exchange, joint research, and harmonization of transit procedures.

Mr. Gyampo also announced the passage of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority Act, 2024, empowering the Authority to facilitate transit trade and address challenges facing commercial operators.

“Mr. Chairman, I am pleased to share with you the passage of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1122). Recognising the importance of transit trade, the Government of Ghana, through this Act, has empowered the Authority to play a stronger role in facilitating transit trade along our corridors.

“I am confident that this new mandate will not only strengthen the Authority’s capacity to support your international trade but also enable us to deal more decisively with the challenges that have long impeded the smooth functioning of the transit trade regime in Ghana,” Mr. Gyampo asserted.

He further revealed that the GSA is developing the Boankra Integrated Logistics Terminal to enhance Ghana’s transit corridor competitiveness.

The partnership aims to reduce business costs and boost trade between Ghana and Mali.
