A visit by the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana National Gas Company, Ms. Judith Adjobah Blay, to the Prestea Himan Traditional Authority is being widely regarded as a turning point in relations between the company and its host community.

The engagement marks the first time a sitting CEO of Ghana Gas has formally met with traditional leaders in Prestea since the company began operations in the area in 2015.

The Chief of Prestea Himan, Nana Nteboa Pra IV, described the visit as historic, noting that previous leadership had not directly engaged the Traditional Authority despite years of operations in the community.

Long standing concerns about infrastructure and local benefits were raised during the meeting. The Member of Parliament for Prestea Huni-Valley, Hon. Joseph Wisdom Cudjoe, highlighted key development challenges affecting residents.

Responding to the concerns, Ms. Blay announced plans to construct a new bridge and rehabilitate the road linking the community to the company’s operational site. She also disclosed that Ghana Gas will build a male ward at the Prestea Government Hospital.

The CEO further indicated that steps are being taken to expand employment opportunities for indigenous residents, a move expected to strengthen local participation in the company’s operations.

The visit signals a renewed commitment by Ghana Gas to deepen engagement and deliver tangible benefits to communities directly impacted by its activities.
