The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially announced the launch of its annual NDC Month for June 2026 during a media engagement at the NDC Headquarters at Adabraka on Friday, May 15, 2026.
General Secretary of the NDC, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, welcomed participants and outlined that the NDC Month is dedicated to reflection, remembrance, recommitment, and renewal of the Party’s founding ideals.
The theme for this year’s observance is “Strengthening State Institutions: Lessons from the June 4, 1979 Uprising,” which aligns with the government’s Reset Agenda aimed at restoring confidence in public institutions and promoting transparent governance, according to Mr. Kwetey.
He stated that the June 4 uprising symbolized demands for integrity, accountability, social equity, and responsible stewardship of state resources, values that guide the NDC and President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.
The General Secretary paid tribute to the Founder of the NDC, former President Jerry John Rawlings, highlighting his contributions to Ghana’s democracy, probity, and accountability.
The NDC has scheduled a public lecture on June 3 in the Banda Constituency focusing on the June 4 uprising’s impact and accountable governance.
This will be followed by a ceremonial flag raising, wreath laying, and durbar on June 4 in the Bono Region to commemorate the uprising and national unity.
The party will also observe NDC Day on June 10, revisiting the Party’s ideological foundations and promoting youth and women participation in governance.
Cadres Day will be commemorated on June 19 in Kumasi, themed “Ensuring Transparent Governance: The Role of Cadres.”
The month-long celebration will conclude with Founder’s Day on June 22, featuring the naming of the Party headquarters after President Rawlings and unveiling of his bust.
Mr. Kwetey further called on NDC members, cadres, and Ghanaians to participate actively in the events for political education, national reflection, and patriotic renewal, emphasizing discipline, unity, and purpose in strengthening state institutions and achieving a just, accountable Ghana.
