The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, Esq., has been named Overall Best CEO of the Year, Public Sector, at the 2026 Ghana CEO Summit.
Gyamfi received the award on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the 10th edition of the summit held at the Kempinski Gold Coast City Hotel in Accra.

The honour recognizes his leadership in transforming Ghana’s gold and precious minerals sector.
The event was chaired by the Paramount Chief of Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, with President John Dramani Mahama as special guest of honor. Also in attendance were Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare and CEOs and MDs from public and private institutions.

This marks Gyamfi’s second major award in 2026. In February, he was named Best Public Company CEO at the Radio and Television Personality Awards.
Under Gyamfi, the Ghana Gold Board has earned multiple institutional honours.

In March 2026, GoldBod was named State Owned Enterprise of the Year, Most Profitable State Owned Enterprise, and Overall Best Specified Entity at the State Interests and Governance Authority’s Public Enterprises League Table Awards.
Since taking office, Gyamfi has led reforms to formalize artisanal and small-scale mining, strengthen responsible sourcing, combat gold smuggling, and boost foreign exchange inflows through strategic gold trading.
Within a year of its establishment, GoldBod has become central to the Bank of Ghana’s gold reserve program and is driving value addition, traceability, and local refining.

The institution has also drawn international delegations studying its model for repositioning Ghana’s gold sector.
Observers say the award reflects both Gyamfi’s leadership and GoldBod’s emergence as a key pillar in Ghana’s economic transformation agenda.
