Ghana and Brazil are set to deepen cultural and tourism ties after a Brazilian delegation met with Ghana’s Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts in Accra this week.
Deputy Minister for Tourism, Yussif Issaka Jajah hosted the delegation, led by Ghanaian YouTuber and tourism advocate Wode Maya, to explore new opportunities for cultural exchange and joint tourism promotion between the two nations.
A key outcome of the meeting was an official invitation for Ghana to participate in the São Paulo Carnival.
A leading Brazilian Samba school also unveiled plans to feature Ghana as the central theme of its 2027 parade.

The showcase will spotlight Ghana’s history, heritage, culture, and iconic landmarks to a global audience, with millions of viewers expected to watch the event live and online.
Jajah welcomed the initiative, describing it as a major opportunity to project Ghana’s creative arts and boost international tourism.
“We are committed to exploring every avenue that promotes Ghana’s culture, strengthens diaspora connections, and deepens bilateral relations with Brazil,” he said.

The Minister noted that Ghana and Brazil share deep historical and cultural links through the transatlantic slave trade, with millions of Brazilians tracing ancestry to West Africa.
The partnership aims to leverage that shared Afro-Brazilian heritage for cultural exchange, investment, and global visibility.
The Ministry confirmed it will begin technical discussions with Brazilian counterparts to formalize Ghana’s participation in the 2027 São Paulo Carnival and map out broader collaborations around festivals, artist exchanges, and tourism marketing.
The engagement adds to Ghana’s ongoing “Beyond the Return” and “Visit Ghana” campaigns, which target diaspora and cultural tourism from the Americas.
