Founder and President of the Atta-Mills Institute, Samuel Koku Anyidoho has said he played a key role in the construction of the party’s national headquarters.
He labeled the project as one of President John Evans Atta-Mills’ most significant monuments for the NDC.
Anyidoho made the comments in a post on X on Sunday, June 22, to mark the birthdate of party founder Jerry John Rawlings.
He described himself as a “deep insider” during the headquarters project, indicating he had direct, behind-the-scenes involvement in its planning and execution.
“Today, June 22, marks the birthdate of Founder of the NDC, President Jerry John Rawlings and a very significant Event is taking place at the Headquarters of the Party to name the building after the Founder.
The building remains one of the most significant monuments built for the Party by President John Evans Atta-Mills – humbly so, I was a deep insider,” he said.
He said the decision to name the building after Rawlings also honours Atta-Mills, who constructed it.
Anyidoho noted that Atta-Mills would be pleased that the facility he provided for the NDC is now being used to honour Rawlings.
“I know for sure that the soul of President Atta-Mills would be smiling that in death, the lasting legacy he gave the NDC is the symbol being used in honoring the man who gave him the opportunity to become Vice President – creating the opportunity to serve as President of the Republic of Ghana,” Anyidoho wrote.
Rawlings first appointed Atta-Mills as Vice President, an opportunity that created Atta-Mills’ path to lead the NDC and serve as President of Ghana, Anyidoho mentioned.
He commended the NDC leadership for etching Rawlings’ name firmly on the image of the party and said the event will strengthen party unity.
