The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has conducted a high-stakes overnight operation at a suspected cannabis production and storage hub in Koleonu, Wegbe, and Akplamafu in the Volta Region.
The exercise led to the arrest of three suspects in a breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking.
In a report, the Commission said the exercise was carried out through credible intelligence upon which they launched an intensive all-night raid on a stash house believed to be a key centre for the cultivation, processing, and distribution of cannabis and hashish oil in the area.
“The carefully coordinated operation led to the successful arrest of three principal suspects allegedly linked to the illegal drug trade,” NACOC stated, and added that the operation was a decisive strike against narcotics-related criminal activity.
According to the report, this development emphasized “NACOC’s growing determination to dismantle drug syndicates threatening public safety and community wellbeing.’
“This operation marks a significant step in NACOC’s ongoing efforts to identify, disrupt, and dismantle illegal drug networks across the country. The successful raid underscores NACOC’s intensified crackdown on narcotics trafficking and serves as a stern warning to individuals involved in the illicit drug trade that law enforcement remains vigilant and uncompromising,” it added.
The suspects are currently in custody assisting with investigations and are expected to face prosecution in accordance with the law.
