Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to advancing African trade and industrialization.
She emphasizing that regional integration is crucial for the continent’s economic sovereignty.

Speaking at the Africa Trade Awards 2026, Madam Jane stressed that while agreements like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) hold immense promise, implementation and infrastructure development are key to boosting intra-African trade, currently representing a modest share of total trade.

“Agreements alone do not deliver integration; We need infrastructure, capable institutions, and sustained political will,” she stated, echoing the vision of Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

The Vice President highlighted Ghana’s initiatives, including the 24-Hour Economy, aimed at enhancing productivity and removing inefficiencies, alongside broader infrastructure and industrialization projects supporting trade, value addition, and job creation.

She commended award recipients for their leadership and innovation, reiterating that Africa’s transformation requires deliberate partnership, discipline, unity, and sustained action.
