The Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has alleged that members believed to be National Democratic Congress (NDC) have started sending death threats of the minority.
The allegations come after a tense standoff in Bonkrom, Ahafo Ano North Constituency, when events organised by the Minority Caucus overlapped with a meeting of local NDC supporters over a contentious cut to cocoa producer prices.
Speaking at Manso Adubia on Day 3 of the Minority’s tour of cocoa-growing areas, he said the threats had escalated beyond political rivalry and attempted to disrupt their outreach to cocoa farmers in the Ashanti Region.
“They have started sending us messages, they say if we don’t stop what we are doing, they will kill us… But we will not stop today or tomorrow,” he claimed.
Mr. Annoh-Dompreh urged farmers to voice their frustrations, adding that they should hoot at any NDC member who comes close to them.
“When the NDC comes to you, hoot at them, the four planes he bought he should sell three and use the money to pay cocoa farmers,” he said.
