The Ministry of the Interior has urged Ghanaians to exercise extreme caution following heavy rains and flooding experienced in several parts of the country on Monday, June 29, 2026.
In a statement signed by Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, the Ministry said the public should remain where they are until conditions improve.
“Those who are safely at home are urged to stay at home, while those who are at their workplaces or other safe locations should remain there until it is safe to travel. Unnecessary movement should be avoided,” the statement said.
The Ministry warned motorists and pedestrians not to attempt to drive or walk through flooded roads, bridges, or waterways, noting that floodwaters can rise rapidly and pose significant danger to life and property.
It added that the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Armed Forces, NADMO, and other emergency response services have been deployed to monitor the situation, assist affected persons, manage traffic, and undertake rescue operations where required.
Residents in flood-prone communities have been advised to move to higher ground and promptly report emergencies to security agencies.
Emergency contacts provided:
– Ghana Police Service: 18555 or 112
– Ghana National Fire Service: 192
– NADMO: 112
The Ministry said the safety and well-being of the public remain government’s highest priority and assured that further updates will be provided as necessary.
