Dennis Miracles Aboagye has rejected claims by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) that he allegedly committed financial irregularities to the tune of GH₵55 million during his tenure as Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD).
He made this statement following his release by the Office after spending days in detention as part of investigations into a forensic audit conducted on the affairs of the Secretariat for the period from August 1, 2022, to February 2, 2025.
In his first public reaction to EOCO’s allegations, Mr. Aboagye described the narrative surrounding his arrest as falsehood.
“A false narrative was put out about my arrest, but Ghanaians are not fools, and neither are the good people of the New Patriotic Party. The facts and the truth will prevail!! For the record: There was no discussion of any GHc55 million with me by EOCO. None!!!” he emphasised in a Facebbok post.
Providing further details, he disclosed that he was picked up by EOCO on July 10, just a day after declaring his intention to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Communications Director position.
According to the loudmouth politician, the detention would not deter his political ambitions.
“Let me be clear: if the intention was to break me, it has failed. If the intention was to scare me, it has failed spectacularly. I will lead the New Patriotic Party’s Communications Directorate to command the narrative, and no cell, no false story, no intimidation will change that. Fuel has only been added to the fire.”
Mr. Aboagye expressed his profound gratitude to his legal team, party leadership, and every single supporter who stood with him during the difficult period.
“To every party faithful who hit the streets, who raised their voices, who refused to be silent, I saw you. I heard you. From my detention, word of your protests reached me, and it kept my spirit standing tall. This journey is no longer mine alone. It is ours,” he noted.
