The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga Central Municipal Assembly, Emmanuel Adotey Allotey, has distributed relief items to thousands of residents affected by the June floods in the municipality.
The relief package included mattresses, blankets, foodstuff, utensils, mosquito nets, washing bowls, buckets, and soap.

Speaking during the distribution at the forecourt of the Assembly, Mr. Allotey said the assembly had identified about 11,000 households that lost their properties in the disaster. He noted that he walked around with NADMO officers to assess the extent of the damage.
“It was an unfortunate incident. We had about 11,000 households that lost their properties within the Ga Central Municipal Assembly,” he said on Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

The MCE also announced that President John Dramani Mahama has directed the National Health Insurance Scheme to register new NHIS cards and renew existing ones for all affected victims at no cost.
According to him, the directive is to enable victims to access healthcare at the hospital without financial burden.

Mr. Allotey expressed gratitude to President Mahama for releasing funds through NADMO to procure relief items for the victims.
“We’re so grateful to H.E John Dramani Mahama for releasing funds through NADMO to purchase these items for victims,” he stated.
He also thanked NADMO for attending to the needs of the affected persons and commended members of the Assembly for making the distribution exercise a success.

The MCE further apologized to the victims for the ordeal they went through and assured them of the assembly’s continued support.
One of the beneficiaries, Solomon Ampadu, thanked President John Dramani Mahama and the Municipal Assembly for donating the items to them.

He however complained that the relief items were very few and would barely cater for their needs over a long period of time.
He appealed to the government through the Assembly to ensure that all necessary actions have been taken to prevent further damage when it rains.
