The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Birim Central in the Eastern Region, Solomon Kusi Brako, has invoked curses against the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akim Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, over allegations linking him to illegal mining activities also known as galamsey.

His actions stemmed from claims by the MP that the MCE plays a key role in galamsey operations within Birim Central and its environs.

In a video available to this portal, Mr. Brako and his entourage were spotted at the bank of the River Birim, where he invoked the curse.

He was heard saying: “I stand before you this morning with seriousness because for quite some time now, after President John Dramani Mahama appointed me as Birim Central MCE, some individuals have deliberately tried to tarnish my image with fabricated stories. Especially the Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, who kept saying that I [Kofi Brako] play a key role in the activities of galamsey at Birim Central and its environs.”

“Nananom, if the claims by Alexander Akwasi Acquah are true, that I [Kofi Brako] am involved or play an instrumental role in galamsey and benefit from its proceeds, leading to the destruction of the Birim River which is affecting the people, may you deal with me.

“However, if his claims are merely falsehoods and a calculated attempt to disgrace me, to court hatred from the President, to cost me my job, and to prevent my wish of major development for Birim Central, Nananom, deal with him accordingly,” he said.

Defending his actions, Mr. Brako explained that he sought justice in the face of accusations that had recently become a subject of public discussion.

“Nananom, my action is not meant to rain curses but the intent is purely to seek justice because the MP had insisted that there are no more powers in the rivers anymore. So I want you [gods] to show your powers.”
