Former Ghanaian international, George Alhassan has lamented about the lack of quality players currently in the senior national soccer team, the Black Stars.

According to the ex-Black Stars playmaker, the crop of players currently representing Ghana at the senior level are not good enough.

The 1978 & 1982 AFCON winner, George Alhassan however conceded that there are few players with quality who play like how they used to play in the past but do not match the standard they set.

“Non of the current Black Stars players will make it into the starting line up of the 1982 and 1984 squad.” The Black Stars Legend told Saddick Adams on Angel FM Accra.

George Alhassan, who is regarded as one of the most talented players to don the red, yellow and green jersey believes only the newly signed Arsenal’s £45m midfielder, Thomas Teye Partey stands the chance of making it into Ghana’s 1982 and 84 twenty-three man squad.

“Arsenal’s Thomas Partey can  make it onto the bench of our team,” he categorically opined.

George Alhassan who played for Ghana premier league outfit Accra Great Olympics currently serves as the welfare officer for his former club.
