Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has commended The Church of Pentecost for organising the National Development Conference, describing it as a timely platform for national dialogue and collective reflection on the values needed to drive Ghana’s development.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Debrah said the initiative demonstrates the important role faith-based institutions can play in shaping the country’s development agenda and promoting national unity.
He conveyed the warm greetings and commendation of President John Dramani Mahama to the leadership of the Church for convening the gathering, which brought together traditional leaders and other stakeholders to discuss Ghana’s development.
“The National Development Conference organised by The Church of Pentecost represents an important call to collective reflection on the values that must guide Ghana’s development journey,” he stated.
Mr. Debrah stressed that national progress should not be measured solely by economic growth and infrastructure development, but also by the values that define the nation.
“The progress of any nation is built not only on economic growth and physical infrastructure, but also on the strength of its values. A country’s true advancement depends on the character of its people, the integrity of its institutions, and the commitment of its leaders to serve with honesty, accountability, and responsibility,” he said.
The Chief of Staff further emphasised the indispensable role of the Church and traditional authorities in promoting peace, unity and social cohesion, noting that their partnership with government remains critical to achieving sustainable national development.
“As Ghana continues to pursue sustainable development, the role of institutions such as the Church and Traditional Authorities remains indispensable. These institutions are custodians of values, culture, and social cohesion, and their partnership with Government is critical in building a nation founded on peace, unity, and shared responsibility,” he noted.
Mr. Debrah concluded by urging all sectors of society to work together in building the nation, saying, “The task of building the Ghana we desire requires the collective effort of all sectors of society, guided by a renewed commitment to integrity, service, and the common good.”
