Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is currently the most popular person in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), a survey has revealed.

According to the survey conducted by pollster, Ben Ephson, the Legislator is popular among the rank and file of the NPP party because of his nature.

Speaking on Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ on Monday, the Editor of the Daily Dispatch Newspaper said NPP supporters who partook in this survey said they admire him because he always address issues devoid of his political affiliation.

The survey further listed Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the second most influential person in the ruling party.

Trade Minister, Alan Kyeremanteng, Railways Minister, Joe Ghartey and Okere MP, Dan Botwe were also also voted as most popular persons after the Kennedy Agyapong and Dr Bawumia.

In spite of his influence within the NPP party, the party supporters said they will not want Ken Agyapong as their running mate after Nana Akufo-Addo.

The participants of the survey believed that he is too quick tempered to lead the NPP arguing that they are not sure he will be able to attract ‘floating’ voters when he leads the party.

“The same NPP supporters who voted for him as the single most popular person in the party said they don’t want him as flagbearer because he is too quick tempered…,” Ben Ephson said on the show.

Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the participants of the survey cannot also take over the flagbearership of the NPP party from his boss, Nana Akufo-Addo because he is too ‘young and green’.

Trades Minister, Alan Kyeremanteng emerged as the obvious choice for the flagbearership position of the NPP because participants believed ‘it is his time’.

Railways Minister, Joe Ghartey was selected as another choice after Dr Bawumia because ‘they believed the Central and Western Regions have voted  for the NPP in previous elections and they deserve to lead the NPP too.’
