2010 FIFA World Cup: Ghana could’ve been world champions if not Suarez handball- Milovan

Black Stars new boss, Milovan Rajevac, has indicated that but for Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez’s famous hand ball, Ghana could have won the World Cup trophy in 2010.

Speaking during his unveiling at the Ghana Football Association Secretariat on Friday, September 24, 2021 he observed, “if Suarez did not do what he did, we could have been world champions”.

The Serbian was in charge of the Black Stars when Ghana was eliminated from the quarter finals of the World Cup by Uruguay on penalties.

The former Qatar and Thailand national team coach further intimated that reaching the quarter finals of the World Cup remains the “biggest success” in his coaching career.

The 67 year old however left his post as head coach after the 2010 world cup in South Africa but has returned to lead the Black Stars on a year contract with subject to renewal if he wins the 2021 AFCON.

He will be assisted by Borussia Dortmund assistant coach Otto Addo and Legon Cities gaffer Maxwell Konadu.

Coach Milovan Rajevac and his assistants will commence work early next month when the Black Stars host Zimbabwe in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
