World Football governing body, Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has stated that it will begin the hearing of the protest launched by South Africa against Ghana next week.

This follows after the South African Football Association (SAFA) on Monday filed a complaint to FIFA seeking for replay of their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers defeat to Black Stars of Ghana at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Senegalese referee Maguette Ndiaye awarded Ghana a 33rd minute penalty after defender Daniel Amartey was fouled in the box which Captain Andre Ayew made no mistake and scored from the spot.

Responding to the news, FIFA has confirmed receiving the protest and said the matter will be referred to its Disciplinary Committee on November 23, 2021, for consideration and decision in accordance with article 14 (9) of the regulations.

“Furthermore, we wish to inform the South African Football Association as well as the Ghana Football Association that the above-mentioned protest will be submitted to a member of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee on 23 November 2021 for consideration and decision in accordance with art. 14 (9) of the Regulations FIFA World Cup 2022 Preliminary Competition as well as arts. 46 and 54 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (FD),” it noted in a letter.

Also, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have been given an ultimatum of November 20, 2021 to also submit any response it deems appropriate on the complaint filed against them and the referee.
