The Director, Consumers and Cooperate Affairs of the National Communication Authority (NCA) Nana Defie Badu, has served notice to Ghanaians that failure to go through all stages of the sim card re-registration makes one process incomplete.

The re-registration of mobile SIM cards across the country commenced on Friday, October 1, 2021 and is expected to last for six months, ending on 31st March 2022.

Speaking on Angel FM’s Anopa Bofoↄ morning show hosted by Kofi Adoma Nwawanni, Nana Defie explained that mobile phone users must complete the first stage of the process by linking their Ghana Cards with their SIM Cards, a process which involves dialling the short code *404#, after which they are required to visit a customer care agent for the final stage of the exercise to make it complete.

“When you do the first stage and fail to do the stage two the sim registration is incomplete. so you need to do the stage one and stage two to complete the sim re-registration” she told the host.

To the Authority’s Director of Consumer and Corporate Affairs, with their collaboration with the telecommunication networks they want to avoid the 2010-11 first ever sim card registration scenario where people could use others voters’ IDs for the exercise due to the unavailability of verification process then.

“During the first registration in 2010-2011, there was no verification process so anybody could use another National Identification Card to register for the sim without the Knowledge of the ID owner.

She then reiterated that although there are some challenges confronting the ongoing national exercise, the move is significant to our own good especially the security of money among other things.
