The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle,  Emmanuel Armarh Kofi- Buah, has accused Adamus Resources Limited for the recent shooting to death of Andrews Donkor and three other youths of the town.

According to the legislator, there are serious problems in Teleku-Bokazo regarding the use of military as security for Adamus Mines, which has led to the death of four people.

This comes after a youth of the town, Andrews Donkor, was shot to death by a military personnel believed to be part of the security detail for Adamus Mines after some youths were arrested for galamsey activities.

The MP indicated that the community has not known any peace ever since the arrival of the mining company and the company’s treatment of the people has been abysmal and ‘unfair’.

He blamed the military personnel attached to the company as security for the death of Andrews Donkor and the three other deceased persons.

“In fact this is about the fourth death of a young person in connection with Adamus mining and the person who shot on those two occasions these young people are not police officers. It is the military attached to the Adamus Mines.”

He, therefore, apologised to the Ghana Police Service for the invasion of the Essiama District Divisional Police Command and subsequent acts of vandalism by the youth.

“So the thought that young people will go and attack police stations is regrettable.”

Also, the Chief of Teleku-Bokazu, Nana Afful kwaw II, has said that he is worried by the turn of events and if nothing is done about it, he would flee the town.

“They [Adamus] have worked here for more than 10 years but at the beginning we were not in support of their presence. Later there was peace but these days at the least thing there are gunshots and this is about the fourth time that the security of the company has killed a youth”, he said in Twi.

“I am deeply disturbed and don’t know what to say. We are pleading with the company to listen to us. Though it is government that has given them the license to operate but if you don’t have the social license you can’t get the peace you need to work.”

While noting that this should be a lessen to Adamus and stakeholders, he pleaded with government to get the youth gainfully employed to forestall future occurrences.
