The Toyota Hiace Minibus involved in the statement crushed vehicle

Five persons have been confirmed dead in a road accident at Bunso in the Eastern Region on the Accra to Kumasi Highway.

The accident which occurred today Monday, April 4, 2022 involves a Toyota Hiace minibus and a DAF low bird articulated truck.

The suspect driver now deceased, was in a Toyota Hiace minibus with Registration number AK 1145-21 with 13 persons on board and was traveling from Kumasi to Accra.

According to reports, on reaching a section of the road after Akyem Asiakwa junction near Bunso, the Toyota Hiace driver veered off his lane and crashed the DAF low bird articulated truck with registration number GT 3799-16 traveling from Tema to Kumasi.

Eyewitness says, the incident led to the death of five persons including the Toyota Hiace minibus driver instantly.

Meanwhile, Seven male occupants on board the Toyota Hiace minibus were rushed to Hawa Memorial Savior hospital at Osiem where they are currently on admission.

The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, confirmed the incident and said police personnel quickly rushed to the scene and intervene.

He added that, the dead bodies have since been kept at the Kibi government hospital morgue for identification, preservation, and autopsy.
