Former President, John Dramani Mahama’s recent comment about the Judicial Service is a scheme to popularize his candidature for the 2024 general election, former Central Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs has jabbed.

According to him, John Mahama’s persistent commentaries on issues are part of his plans to always remain popular in the sight of Ghanaians.

Claims of the former President that President Akufo-Addo has leapfrogged some lawyers to the bench as part of a grand scheme to escape accountability has become the topic of discussion in the public space in recent times.

“Our lawyers, some of you must be prepared to go unto the bench, I know that some of you have very lucrative legal practices you will not want to leave and go onto the bench. But you can see what the current President has done, he appointed the largest number of judges onto the bench. More than 80 towards hundred and counting.

“He’s packed the court, and we know that they’ve packed the court because they want to avoid accountability after they have left office. So, all manner of people who have been known to be partisan, to have been executives of their party who are in the legal profession have been leapfrogged onto the Superior courts and other places,” Mr. Mahama said.

Speaking on Angel FM/TV’s Morning Show, Allotey-Jacobs said that John Mahama’s utterances s nothing but a typical attitude of a Ghanaian politician who intends to seek favour from the populace.

“The psychology of Ghanaian politics is to throw something into the public domain just for noise making and then for people to decide whether what am saying is true or not and to popularize my personality towards a goal and that is exactly what Mahama is seeking to do,” he opined.
