Accra West ECG sensitizes customers on use of ECG app

The Accra West Region of the Electricity Company of Ghana Ltd (ECG) has embarked on a day’s roadshow through all the eight operational districts in the region as part of efforts aimed at increasing awareness on the company’s cashless system and encourage the use of the company’s enhanced mobile app.

Globally October is regarded as the customer loyalty month, and the company took advantage of this to interact with its customers.

In a speech to staff read on behalf of the Managing Director, Samuel Dubik Mahama, the ECG Accra West General manager Ing. Emmnuel Tetteh Akinie urged staff of the company to eschew any act which will negate our corporate values.

“Regarding our external customers, we admit, without question or doubt, that they are the backbone of our business. We are in business because they exist. In other words, we are because they are. Therefore, we must take their interests and concerns into serious consideration in everything we do.

“It is therefore expected of us to execute our fiduciary responsibilities to the letter. Our customers expect us to be trustworthy, truthful, reliable and proactive at all times. When we step out of bounds to join those who carry a sense that the customer is ignorant and therefore can be fleeced for personal gains, we destroy the very moral foundation of our company, and this is anti-ECG Values of Professionalism, Openness, Wellbeing, Excellence and Reliability,” he said.

Ing. Mahama however urged the staff to keep in mind that the ECG as part of its agenda for the year will continue with massive revenue mobilisation exercise.

“Mobilization will be the new norm since it is our lifeblood. Due to ECG’s position within the electricity value chain, we have an arduous task to ensure we constantly oil the electricity value chain to propel the wheel of the chain so as to keep the lights on…,” he continued.

He therefore urged the staff of the power distribution company to ensure that they educate customers on the use of the new ECG mobile app.

“…create awareness and educate customers on the Mobile App, cashless system and the need to pay their bills promptly, by engaging them one-on-one, sharing flyers, etc. across our operational areas, remember to observe SHE…,” he added.

He explained that SHE means S – Safety. Be mindful of the vehicles you are using. Do not run or walk on the blind side of the driver. Do not sit on the bonnets or windows of the vehicles, as some do.

H – Health. Be very mindful of your health. Dress appropriately for the exercise. Make sure to carry your water and some snack along. If you feel faint and cannot continue, sit and relax in the bus and follow the procession.

E – Environment. Do not litter as you move along the streets and communities. Obey instructions of the security officers assisting us in order not to create unnecessary traffic
