The Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has charged the Electoral Commission (EC) to address the challenges experienced in the ongoing limited voter registration exercise.

Speaking on the difficulties characterised by the exercise, he underscored the necessity of the electoral body to roll out measures on the issues that have become the talk of town.

He noted that by doing so, ensure every eligible Ghanaian voter is registered before the process comes to an end.

“The Electoral Commission must improve on its system of registration. Obviously, if we are all talking about network failures, then I am not sure that they will be able to complete on schedule. The frustrations and delays must be addressed.

“So, I am urging the Electoral Commission to ensure that they have a backup system because, as it is, the frustrations are too many. And I would encourage the Electoral Commission to live up to expectations,” he told journalists Friday, May 10, 2024.

The Majority Leader who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Efutu Consistency in the Central Region, gave the advice when he visited the Electoral Commission in the area as well as some registration centres of the exercise.

The limited registration exercise which started on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, will last for 21 days and end on May 27, 2024.
