President Mahama Nominates Deputy Ministers for Parliamentary Approval

President John Dramani Mahama has submitted the names of several nominees to Parliament for prior approval to serve as Deputy Ministers in his administration. This move, made in line with Articles 78(1) and 79(1) of Ghana’s Constitution, reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen key sectors and drive national development.

The list of nominees includes individuals selected for various portfolios:

  • Ministry of Finance: Thomas Nyarko Ampem
  • Ministry of the Interior: Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi
  • Ministry of Defence: Ernest Brogya Gyenfi
  • Ministry of Education: Clement Abas Apaak
  • Ministry of Energy & Green Transition: Richard Gyan-Mensah
  • Ministry of Roads & Highways: Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini
  • Ministry of Justice & Attorney General: Justice Srem-Sai
  • Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources: Yusif Sulemana
  • Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs: Rita Naa Odoley Sowah
  • Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources: Gizella Tettey-Agbotui
  • Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts: Yussif Issaka Jajah
  • Ministry of Food and Agriculture: John Kofi Setor Dumelo
  • Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry: Samson Ahi

Additionally, Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba has been nominated as Minister of State in charge of Public Sector Reforms, signaling the government’s commitment to improving efficiency and accountability across public institutions.

In a statement dated Wednesday, February 5, 2025, and signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Acting Spokesperson to the President, it was emphasized that the nominations reflect the administration’s intention to strengthen its capacity for delivering impactful governance.
