The Acting Director-General of the National Service Authority (NSA), Felix Gyamfi, has cautioned against the practice of paying money to secure preferred postings for national service. He emphasized that under his leadership, such activities will not be tolerated.
Speaking in a one-on-one interview with Saddick Adams on the Angel Morning Show on February 14, 2025, Mr. Gyamfi firmly stated that as long as he remains in charge, there will be no such thing as “special postings” for those willing to pay.
“It will never happen under my watch. If any national service personnel pay money for a preferred posting, they risk not doing the service at all” he said.
The NSA boss expressed strong disapproval of the trend, calling on all stakeholders to put an end to it. “I do not subscribe to that kind of behavior. Let us all put a stop to it” he added.
Mr. Gyamfi also advised prospective personnel to provide accurate personal details to ensure fair and reasonable placements, minimizing the risk of being sent to distant locations.
He revealed that the national service scheme had nearly turned into a business enterprise with some individuals profiting by promising placements at desirable locations in exchange for money.
“Why should a graduate who is yet to receive any financial benefit after school be asked to pay for service placement? This is a thing of the past, and Ghanaians must not condone it” he said.
His comments come at a time when concerns over corruption and favoritism in national service placements continue to spark public debate. Authorities, parents, and service personnel are anticipating fairness and integrity to remain the core of the Authority.
