President John Dramani Mahama’s State of the Nation Address has sparked mixed reactions from Ghanaians, with some praising his plans for the country while others remain skeptical about their implementation.
Some citizens have commended the president’s commitment to supporting the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, despite initial concerns that the programme might be scrapped. The government’s plan to gradually review the Free SHS policy has been particularly welcomed. Additionally, the president’s pledge to support persons with disabilities by covering their educational expenses has received widespread approval.
Others have expressed enthusiasm about the president’s plans for traders and women, although details of these initiatives remain unclear. However, some Ghanaians remain doubtful, arguing that the address was rich in promises but lacked concrete implementation strategies.
Despite these mixed reactions, the president’s speech has generated significant public debate, with many eagerly awaiting the execution of his proposed policies.
“Having good intentions is one thing, but implementation is what matters. The president has said a lot, but he is not being truthful about not cancelling Free SHS” one Ghanaian stated.
“The speech given by the president was good. The plans he has for traders, tailors, and students are promising, and I pray he is able to execute them” another stated.
