Member of Parliament for the Akim Oda Constituency in the Eastern Region, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has accused President John Dramani Mahama of planning the removal of the suspended Chief Justice, Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo.
The MP said the actions and inactions of the President clearly indicate his prearranged intent even before seeking the presidency.
Speaking on the CJ’s injunction against the committee probing her removal, Mr. Acquah stated that his conviction regarding the President’s actions is unequivocal.
“The very day of the 2024 election was when I realized the CJ would encounter a lot of problems. So is this the resetting Ghana agenda?
“We are seeing things for the first time that had not occurred in the country, and the CJ case is a typical example. I know she’ll definitely be removed based on what is happening, but my problem has been the procedure.”
Mr. Acquah stressed that “CJ leaving post is something predetermined by President John Dramani Mahama, because he had pass countless comments about the Judiciary during his 2024 election campaign.”
He emphasised that the President had “thought of it, and it is the reason that he valerified the Judiciary to the extent where the independence they enjoyed seemed irrelevant.”
His assertion follows the discussion surrounding the CJ’s injunction filed against the committee probing her removal.
